The participants’ diversity, coming from 50 to 70 countries, is one of the most enjoyed features of the conference.
The first IDEC took place in 1993 in Israel, and since then, it has been in about 15 different countries on various continents. IDEC 2023 schedule to take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, hosted by Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir.
What is Special about IDEC 2023
People ask about the core values of Democratic Education; and its often a cumbersome task because it is an ever evolving experience. IDEC is not a conventional conference, where you go to learn or to deliver a talk but it is more about an experience than building an idea. IDEC 2023 is happening in a unique Nepalese cultural sphere. You will spend five days in the suburb of Kathmandu at the foothills of amazing mountains with the 180 degree panoramic view of the Himalayas. You will be welcomed into a space organized by a community that strongly relishes mutual co-operation, collective contribution and personal growth. We are inspired by the synthesis of materialistic perfection, social responsibility and spiritual awakening. You will experience the real sense of Sanskrit Phrase, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means: the whole world is one family.
We help you to combine the conference with your desire to explore the Himalayas and really discover what life is like in some of the untouched corner of the world.
What is Open Space?
The Open Space allows everyone who wishes to do so to offer, in complete autonomy, various activities:workshops, games, forums, round tables, courses, talks, shows, concerts, etc. It is open to all children, young people, parents, trainers, teachers, and professionals.
We welcome you all to share your experience, organize workshops, games, roundtables, talks, and witness educational solutions for a better world.
